Accepted File Platforms

Operating Systems
Supported platforms include Macintosh OS 9.x, OS 10.x; Microsoft Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP.

Software Applications
Please note that Victor Graphics DOES NOT accept any file or files created in the Microsoft Office Suite or Microsoft Publisher. Victor Graphics also DOES NOT accept any .pdf file created from the Microsoft Office Suite or Microsoft Publisher (this includes printing to Adobe PDF/Distiller from Word or Power Point).

Digital files intended for print production should be supplied in PDF format. In the event this is not possible, the following applications are supported:

Quark Xpress 4.x-8.x
Adobe InDesign 2.x - 4.x (CS4)
Adobe Pagemaker 6.5-7.x - Will ONLY accept .PDF files from this application
Adobe Illustrator 8.x-12.x (CS4)
Adobe Photoshop 5.5-8.x (CS4)
Macromedia Freehand 9.x - Will ONLY accept .EPS files from this application
Corel - As long as the file is exported in .eps format

File Formats
PDF:
Versions 1.3, 1.4 (with no transparency), 1.5 (with no transparency, layer content, or JPEG2000 compression). Text PDFs should be combined into one file when possible. PDF's should be created as oversized so page marks and bleed information remain visibly contained within PDF crop box.

EPS:
EPS files should be saved as PostScript Level 3 EPS files with all fonts embedded. Adobe Illustrator (.ai) files can be left in native application format when placed in an Adobe InDesign document. Please do not nest EPS files within an EPS file.

TIFF:
Raster graphics should be saved in TIFF format. Tiff is a non-lossy format and will no degrade image quality. TIFFs can be optionally saved with LZW compression. Adobe Photoshop (.psd) files can be left in native application format when placed in Adobe InDesign documents.

JPG:
Images saved as JPG can be processed with no problem, however for best print quality maximum quality/minimal level of compression should be selected. TIFF is a preferred raster graphic format.

PostScript:
PostScript files are acceptable is tested. All font and graphics information must be embedded in the files. Ideally, a device independent PPD (i.e. Adobe's Distiller/PDF PPD) should be used to generate PostScript files. In normal circumstances, PostScript files should be converted to PDFs using Victor Graphic's Adobe Distiller job options prior to submission.
