VICTOR GRAPHICS INSTALLS MAGNUS VLF AND PRINERGY CONNECT DIVISION

Victor Graphics EPP department installed a Creo Magnus VLF (very large format CTP) in June 2005. The Magnus VLF is designed to offer increased speed and functionality for book printers and manufacturers such as Victor Graphics. Its advanced thermal imaging and enhanced automation will allow Victor Graphics to deliver superior quality, increased productivity and faster turnaround times to its customers.

The Continuous Load option allows two plate queuing and automatic plate eject to an online processor. This option allows operators the freedom to perform other value-added tasks during imaging. In addition to the Magnus VLF, Victor Graphics has installed the Prinergy Connect workflow solution.

Prinergy is a complete workflow management system that will organize prepress, film and plate production. Its integrated Oracle database monitors and records every step in the workflow allowing Victor to prioritize jobs, quickly diagnose errors and make corrections. Prinergy produces a Digital Master PDF that will allow customers to make last-minute changes using PDF editing tools, or send it to the customer for electronic proofing.

The Prinergy Digital Master interprets, performs pre-flight checks, and refines incoming files which produce trapped and color-managed press-ready PDFs. The Prinergy Digital Master file includes high-resolution images, which should be optimized and/or compressed to reduce the sizes for efficient handling. The press-optimized PDF is trapped, color-managed, and stored in CMYK color space. These are the highest-quality PDF's produced.

The implementation of the Prinergy Connect workflow solution will increase Victor Graphic's capacity allowing for faster schedules, improved quality, faster turnaround times and more competitive pricing.
