As companies start to address their environmental impact and ways to improve, Victor Graphics looks to improve on our systems already in place. We've been recycling 80-90% of all production waste including ink, paper, and metal for 25 years. One area of improvement has been in the usage of raw materials. Paper use averaged 66% in 2002. This equates to 1 roll of waste to every 3 rolls. Over the years, Victor has been able to increase this to 73-75%, equating to 1 roll out of 4. This has been achieved through new equipment, education, and a desire to conserve resources. Victor is also “in the dark.” Lights and other electrical devices are turned off; some by auto timers or switches.
Another area Victor is trying to improve on is the temperature it takes to dry our inks. We have been working with our vendor to come up with an ink that will dry using less heat. Our goal is to reduce our heat emissions by 10-20% per press. We have addressed our heat-set emissions by installing an in-line catalytic afterburner which reduces exhaust emissions by 50%.
This is just a small overview of the many ways Victor Graphics has and will continue to help our environment and the planet we call home.
